Florida State football had one of its best recruiting classes in the 2024 cycle. The Seminoles were thought to be turning a corner with the homegrown talent. This was after a stellar 2023 season, where Florida State had a 13-1 record.

The program has felt a ton of adversity over the past couple of years. Ever since the Seminoles had the snub in the College Football Playoffs in 2022, it has been a curse from the football gods.

Florida State had the 11th-best recruiting class in the 247Sports Composite rankings. This class was something that had individuals thinking that the program had figured out the right balance between recruits and transfers (something that Dabo Swinney still hasn't mastered).

The Seminoles have only seen eleven signees out of the 23 total prospects that were acquired in that 2024 recruiting class coming into the day. However, bad news struck again for Florida State, as redshirt freshman wide receiver Elijah Moore announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal.

Moore was part of a receiver class that had prospects such as four-stars Lawayne McCoy, Camdon Frier, BJ Gibson, and Elijah Moore. McCoy is now the only one out of the group that remains. Speedster Micahi Danzy was also someone in that class, but he was recruited as a running back out of high school, and converted over to wide receiver.

When analyzing the 2024 recruiting class for the Seminoles, it looks like a failure for Florida State so far. However, the biggest signing in the class was highly-touted signal-caller Luke Kromenhoek, but he eventually transferred out and went to Mississippi State. Surprisingly enough, he is back in the portal once again.

Lawayne McCoy, Micahi Danzy, Amaree Williams, and Charles Lester III are players that the coaching staff can build around, but they have to find ways to keep young talent in Tallahassee.

This isn't to say that players who announced that they would be entering the transfer portal would leave for good, but the 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes are supposed to be the backbone of the roster for future development.
