Built for Playmakers: Redshirt freshman speedster Micahi Danzi is legit

I loved to see the coaching staff use Micahi Danzy in the offense on Saturday.

FSU FOOTBALL WIN

There were many instances that you could point to in the Seminoles' 31-17 victory on Saturday that aided them in getting the win. Plain and simple, this was a result that seemed like it was never in doubt.

The Seminoles played a near-perfect game with the execution at an all-time high. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos was clicking on all cylinders. This is a "tip of the cap" moment for offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, because it really did feel like old times.

This looked like Castellanos was in the fifth year of Malzahn's system, as evidenced by the way the offense was set up. Coach Malzahn allowed the offense to truly be "Built for Playmakers".

The motto was frowned upon by the fan base since the Seminoles' offense was so horrible in 2024, but they have changed the perception after the beat down of Alabama. The unit used a ton of "eye candy" in the game, with speedsters Jaylin Lucas and Micahi Danzy (both of whom had a touchdown).

MICAHI DANZY EMERGENCE

Danzy seemed to be the forgotten freshman in the 2024 recruiting class, as many fans wanted to see fellow four-star prospect Kam Davis at the running back position. Davis hasn't gotten any burn this season, but the Tallahassee native surely has.

The track star finished the men's 400-meter with a 44.38 time. The fan base knew that he was fast, but would Danzy actually see the field in 2025 after making the switch from running back to wide receiver? Let's face it... he only had one reception for 38 yards in 2024 when the coaching staff utilized him on a wheel route versus Charleston Southern.

Nonetheless, the Alabama Crimson Tide saw the back of his jersey on Saturday afternoon as he recorded three rushes for 56 yards and one touchdown. The biggest play was his 32-yard rush in the second quarter to give the Seminoles a 14-7 lead.

I think this offense needs to find ways to get the football in his hands. One effective weapon could be tunnel screens or drag routes to get him separation from the defense. Nonetheless, I am glad to see Florida State give Danzy a chance to be successful.
