This could be a solid get for the Seminoles if they get involved.

Florida State football is looking at all of its options as the transfer portal window is officially open. The Seminoles need help as they have only won seven games in the past two years. With that said, head football coach Mike Norvell has been known to evaluate talent in the portal over his years in Tallahassee.

There are needs such as quarterback, offensive line, defensive line, and linebacker that the fan base is most concerned about. I already highlighted in an article that there are some prospects that are visiting this weekend that could commit to the Seminoles.

Linebackers coach John Papuchis has already navigated to Missouri. As a result, the Seminoles promoted assistant coach Ernie Sims to man the position group. Coach Sims has his work cut out for him, as the unit underperformed when expectations were high.

One linebacker that Florida State is trying to get on campus soon is Auburn transfer linebacker Robert Woodyard. He has scheduled trips to Kentucky and Missouri, according to a report from 247Sports' Chris Hummer.

However, the Seminoles need a talent like Woodyard in the position room. He was a former four-star prospect from Mobile, Alabama, who got his opportunity to shine for the Tigers this season. The defender recorded 67 tackles (seven for loss) and two sacks during the 2025 campaign (according to ESPN Stats and Information).

It looks like youngster Izayia Williams could be playing this season, if he recovers from a lower-body injury that he suffered during his senior year of high school. However, that is a ton of pressure for a defender who will just be getting his feet wet in the collegiate game.

Florida State will have to navigate through a ton of schools to get involved in the recruitment, and Southern Miss's Chris Jones could be the better choice, but Jones is visiting Ole Miss first, and it is his dream school, so the staff has to keep their options open.
