FSU FOOTBALL RECRUITING
Florida State football recruiting for the 2026 cycle is sitting as the 13th-best class, according to On3/Rivals. The Seminoles were expected to have a solid weekend with a couple of high-touted prospect, but they ended up striking out.
Nonetheless, the program got a bit of good news on Monday as On3/Rivals dropped its new recruiting rankings for the 2026 cycle. The cream of the crop in the Seminoles' recruiting class is cornerback Chauncey Kennon from Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida.
FSU LOVE FROM ON3
There was hesitancy when Florida State was pursuing Kennon because they thought other schools would come in at the last second and grab him. However, defensive back coach Patrick Surtain Sr and Evan Cooper did what they do best and made sure that the Seminoles remained a destination for talented members of the secondary.
When new recruiting rankings come out, some of the fan base think that the Seminoles get a bad rep. Individuals believe that when talented prospects commit to Florida State, the recruiting service automatically decreases their ranking on purpose, even though they should be higher because they pledge to the Seminoles.
This thought process is false, but it is funny to see some prospects drop around the time that they commit to colleges, and the fan bases become defensive.
Kennon was considered a five-star prospect on the 247Sports rankings. However, he was rated as a four-star prospect on On3/Rivals. Thankfully, On3/Rivals made the right decision and noticed the Sarasota native's skillset and now have him spotted as the 26th-best prospect in the 2026 cycle.
This is a shoutout to the coaching staff for being able to evaluate and zero in on such a talented defensive back that could propel Florida State's program for the years to come.
