Mike Norvell desperately needs a recruiting win this summer. He has to show that FSU is not going to stand by and watch all the top in-state talent go to other programs.
One of the brightest prospects in the state this cycle is five-star wide receiver Nick Lennear. The playmaker from Miami Carol City high school is the type of prospect that could completely change the fortunes of the program. Getting Lennear to FSU would give Norvell arguably the biggest recruiting win of her career, and it looks like the blue-chip playmaker is going to give the Seminoles a spot at the table.

The Seminoles join Miami, Syracuse, LSU and Texas A&M in the top five. If Lennear goes anywhere else other than Miami it's going to be a shock. The Hurricanes are currently a 98 percent favorite to sign Lennear on On3/Rivals. So the first step for the Seminoles is going to be to get Lennear on campus this spring and convince him to take an official visit over the summer. Any chance of steering Lennear away from Miami is going to take a major effort from Norvell and his top assistant.
Tim Harris Jr. might be FSU's best hope with to WR Nick Lennear
If the Seminoles have an ace in the hole to put Lennear's recruitment in play, it would likely be wide receivers./offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr. The Seminoles recently promoted Harris to the offensive coordinator role, replacing the retired Gus Malzahn.. Harris Jr. is a Miami original and the Harris name in that area carries a lot of weight around the area. His father, Tim "ice" Harris, is one of the greatest high school football coaches in Miami-Dade County, winning numerous high school state championships with Northwestern and Booker T. Washington.
This recruitment is going to be an uphill battle for FSU, but Norvell needs to prove he's not running scared from recruiting challenges. Just getting Lennear to take the Seminoles seriously would show fans some of the fire on the trail from Norvell that they have been looking for since he arrived.Â
