5-star OL commit Solomon Thomas receives prediction to arch-rival Gators
Florida State's 2025 recruiting class is starting to heat up as the Seminoles prepare for the Early Signing Period tomorrow. The program has the 45th-best recruiting class in the 2025 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
Florida State recently got commitments from three-star JUCO wide receiver Jordan Scott and three-star wide receiver Teriq Mallory. Both of them are solid gets for the coaching staff.
Some fans are complaining about the Seminoles getting three-star prospects, but they have to understand that Florida State finished the 2024 season with a 2-10 record with brand new coordinators and will have a revamped coaching staff soon.
The bad news comes on Early Signing Day Eve when five-star offensive lineman commit Solomon Thomas from Raines High School in Jacksonville, Florida, has been predicted to flip his pledge from Florida State to Florida by Noles247 FSU Insider Brendan Sonnone.
The Gators beat the Seminoles on the football field this past Saturday by a score of 31-11. However, the main culprit is the fact that Florida State fired offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins a few weeks ago.
Atkins was the main recruiter for all of the offensive linemen, and some of them showed their displeasure on social media, including Thomas. We have already seen four-star Peyton Joseph (Georgia Tech) and three-star Daniel Pierre-Louis (Florida) commit elsewhere.
This would be a massive loss for the Seminoles. However, Florida State has to find a way to counteract the bad news. In response, the program offered Class of 2025 four-star offensive tackle Chastan Brown from Northside High School in Warner Robins, Georgia. He is listed at 6'7" and 270 pounds.
Brown was previously pledged to the UCF Knights, but he backed off his commitment after head football coach Gus Malzahn took the offensive coordinator position at Florida State. This could be a prime recruit that Malzahn could attract to Tallahassee with the familiarity.
