PRODUCTIVE TRANSFER PORTAL CLASS
Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell was once regarded as a "Transfer Portal King" with his recent success in landing talented prospects in the transfer portal.
Fans thought that the transfers who were brought in last offseason would keep the Seminoles in the conversation for a conference championship and a playoff spot. But, as we all saw, that was about as far from the truth as we could get.
The coaching staff was thought to be utilizing a nice mixture of transfer portal and high school prospects. Some of the fan base even thought that there could have been an over-reliance on the transfer portal.
The coaching staff was regularly hitting on at least 80% of its pickups every year, which was unsustainable. The program just did not have enough high school prospects that were ready to contribute right away.
During this offseason, the Seminoles added eleven transfers to the fold, and all of them will be asked to be major contributors in getting Florida State back to where they belong. There is a tall task being asked from the transfers again, and I hope that the strategy pans out.
