The college football landscape is open for business when it comes to acquiring talent in the transfer portal. Florida State has to get better in a hurry, with only seven wins in the past two seasons. Head football coach Mike Norvell and his squad are feeling the pressure.

The good news is that teams can drastically improve with the right pieces in the portal. Just look at Indiana during the past two years. While head football coach Curt Cignetti is a mastermind, his players have put in the work to be successful as well.

With that said, who are some early Florida State football transfer targets that are emerging for Mike Norvell.

QB DJ LAGWAY (FLORIDA)

Florida State hosted the former Florida quarterback DJ Lagway on a visit, and now he is headed to Virginia to survey his options. That is normal in today's college football. Even though the Cavaliers beat the Seminoles this season, Florida State should be sitting in a good spot if they are willing to pay him what he and his camp want.

WR XAVIER TOWNSEND (IOWA STATE)

Florida State got some great news with superstar wide receiver Duce Robinson returning in the 2026 season for the program. Then, options like Lawayne McCoy and Micahi Danzy will likely stick around, too. As I always say, you can never have too many playmakers. Wide receiver Xavier Townsend is someone who visited the Seminoles recently and was playing with Iowa State before Matt Campbell went to Penn State, but he was with UCF when Gus Malzahn was coaching there.

TE DESIRRIO RILES (ECU)

For some unknown reason, the Seminoles like to add multiple tight ends to the team. The Seminoles had Randy Pittman Jr. last year, along with youngsters like Landen Thomas, Amaree Williams, and Chase Loftin. However, Pittman Jr. and Williams have entered the portal, so East Carolina's Desirrio Riles has entered the mix and visited. With one year remaining, this could be someone they get.

OT BRYANT WILLIAMS (LOUISIANA)

Florida State's offensive line was serviceable under position coach Herb Hand in Year 1, with him bringing in several veterans. However, all of those contributors exceeded their eligibility, and it looks like the Seminoles will have to go back to the portal. Louisiana starting offensive tackle Bryant Williams visited campus, and he received a crystal ball prediction in favor of Florida State from Noles247's Zach Blostein.

CB JARVIS LEE (USF)

Florida State already brought in a defensive back, as South Alabama's Nehemiah Chandler committed to the program earlier. However, it looks as though the coaching staff views the secondary as a want in the portal. South Florida cornerback transfer Jarvis Lee visited Tallahassee yesterday and is currently on a trip to SMU and maybe Oregon next. The talented defender almost committed to Florida State during the visit before wanted to weigh his options.
