4-star WR signee Jayvan Boggs finished his senior season with a championship ring
Florida State football did not have the season that it wanted in 2024, where they finished with a 2-10 record. This is not the standard at Florida State.
Head football coach Mike Norvell knew that changes were needed and went to work to compile an impressive assistant coaching staff. One of the first hires that he made was making UCF head football coach Gus Malzahn the offensive coordinator.
I realize that Malzahn's scheme is polarizing, but the Seminoles need a spark to energize the program after having one of the worst offensive units in the country last year. Malzahn can certainly achieve that, as Seminole fans are cautiously optimistic.
The new offensive coordinator spoke to the media earlier this week, and he broke down how the offense was going to emphasize the importance of running the football. However, the Seminoles want to feature its wide receivers as well.
They picked up four prospects in the 2025 cycle with four-star Jayvan Boggs, four-star Tre'Shaun Gelsey, three-star JUCO Jordan Scott, and three-star Teriq Mallory.
Boggs was one that I was extremely excited about as he flipped from the UCF Knights on Early Signing Day.
Even though Boggs is only listed at 6'1", he is someone who knows how to get open. The Cocoa High School standout had his Class 2A state championship matchup versus Gadsden County, and his team secured the victory by a score of 38-27.
The wide receiver finished his senior season with 99 receptions for 2,132 yards and 21 touchdowns. If he does not win the "Mr. Florida" award for the second straight year, I would be shocked.
Malzahn already mentioned that Boggs could be an impactful player during his true freshman campaign. It is now time for the playmaker to come to Tallahassee and get to work.
