Florida State's 2025 recruiting class is ranked as the 20th-best in the country, according to 247Sports Composite. Head football coach Mike Norvell knew that things had to change in Tallahassee after the 2-10 record in 2024.
As a result, Norvell hired six new coaches on his staff. At the moment, the program has a new car smell with the coaching staff. However, they have to find a way to generate positive momentum in the program after the struggles.
The Early Signing Period was positive for Florida State as they landed prospects such as Ousmane Kromah, LaJesse Harrold, Kevin Wynn, Jayvan Boggs, Tylon Lee, Tae'shaun Gelsey, Shamar Arnoux, Sean Poret, Tariq Mallory, and Brunno Reus.
It seemed like the previous regime was dependent on the transfer portal if recruitment didn't go their way. The coaching staff should've had backup options at its disposal for situations that didn't pan out.
Even though the Early Signing Period went well, Florida State is not done with acquiring talent in the 2025 recruiting cycle. One prospect to monitor is a four-star offensive tackle Chastan Brown from Northside High School in Warner Robins, Georgia. He is on his official visit to Florida State this weekend.
Brown was formerly committed to the UCF Knights, where offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and offensive line coach Herb Hand previously coached. The offensive tackle prospect is listed at 6'7" and 270 pounds. It could take him some time to see the field with only 270 pounds, but hopefully, strength and conditioning coach Josh Storms could get a hold of him.
I am intrigued with the potential pickup of Brown, but it could take him three years to get playing time. Nonetheless, the February Signing Period will begin on the first Wednesday of the month.
The offensive tackle already has a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Seminoles.
