Florida State now has the 38th-best recruiting class in the 2025 cycle after the pledge of three-star JUCO wide receiver Jordan Scott. Scott was a massive pickup (no pun intended) for the coaching staff since he was the first receiver they picked up after losing Wiley, Clark, and McCutcheon.
However, the Seminoles should have to go to JUCO prospects and three-star recruits with "heart." This is Florida State, and there is a standard at this university. Unfortunately, the Seminoles currently possess a 2-9 record this season, which is the reality of the situation.
With that being said, though, the only way that head football coach Mike Norvell can get out of the mess that he is in is that he needs to acquire talented pieces in the recruiting ranks and the transfer portal.
I believe that a big focus in this class should be the trenches. It is great to have skill-position players, but it all starts on the offensive and defensive lines. The Seminoles still have three talented offensive linemen in the class with five-star Solomon Thomas, four-star Peyton Joseph, and four-star Mario Nash Jr.
However, Florida State fired their offensive coordinator/offensive line coach, Alex Atkins. The program hasn't hired new coaches yet (could come on Sunday or Monday of this upcoming week). With that being said, other schools are pursuing their services, and the Seminoles have to find a backup plan just in case.
On the defensive line, Florida State has four-star Kevin Wynn (crystal balled to South Carolina) and three-star Darryll and Mandrell Desir. The Seminoles have been reaching out to other defensive linemen to add more talented pieces.
I recently wrote an article about four-star defensive end LaJesse Harrold from Gaither High School in Tampa, Florida, officially visiting this weekend. An interesting development has occurred as Harrold has de-committed from LSU as of Thursday night.
Then, after backing off of the pledge to the Tigers, On3's Steve Wiltfong predicted that Harrold would commit to Florida State.
This would be a great piece to add for Florida State as the Early Signing Period begins on December 4th. The Seminoles have not done a great job with recruiting in the Tampa area. I hope that opens a door for the program to recruit better in the region.
