Florida State football is now sixteen Saturdays away from kicking off against New Mexico State on Saturday, August 29th. The Seminole fan base is not happy with the results on the gridiron, as they have had six losing seasons in eight years.
Head coach Mike Norvell is receiving plenty of criticism about how the program is being run, and the negativity is at an all-time high. As a result, I thought it would be appropriate to shed some positivity on a program that everyone just wants to see compete for championships again.
Here are three positives for fans to monitor for Florida State and Mike Norvell heading into the summer.
1. Brought back superstar wide receiver Duce Robinson for 2026
Florida State was able to bring back the do-it-all pass catcher Duce Robinson. The legacy player knew that he had unfinished business in 2026, as head coach Mike Norvell would be responsible for calling the plays. Robinson had 56 receptions for 1,081 yards and six touchdowns last season, and I expect that number only to go higher next year (according to ESPN Stats and Information).
2. Have young playmakers on offense to build around for the future
The job security is up in the air for head coach Mike Norvell, but this squad is loaded with young talent that has a chance to be really good players. You have playmakers on offense like Ousmane Kromah, Amari Thomas, Devin Carter, Jasen Lopez, Tae'Shaun Gelsey, Jayvan Boggs, Micahi Danzy, Chase Loftin, Corbyn Fordham, and many others. This is something that the fan base should be excited about.
3. Linebacker play will be much improved with the play of transfer Chris Jones
Maybe I am projecting a little bit here, but one of the biggest pickups in the transfer portal for Florida State was Southern Miss linebacker Chris Jones. The veteran had 133 tackles last season for the Golden Eagles and will single-handedly be the leader in the position group under Ernie Sims. Jones will try to make Florida running back Jadan Baugh's massive performance that kept the Seminoles out of a bowl game a thing of the past.
