Florida State finished with a 5-7 record in 2025, which made fans doubt that this squad under head coach Mike Norvell could get the job done. To be honest, the Seminoles have had six losing seasons in eight years, so it is understandable why people have hesitancies.
Mike Norvell is in the thick of the hot seat after the road loss to Stanford. The Seminoles have a 6.5 over/under win total this year (according to FanDuel Sportsbook), and the fan base wants more production from a program that expects championship success.
With that said, the Seminoles have plenty of doubters who don't believe Mike Norvell and company will get it done. I might be part of the minority, but Florida State should be fully capable of having a good 2026 campaign, and here are three players on the roster that could prove the doubters wrong.
QB Ashton Daniels
This is an easy answer, as Florida State went back to the transfer portal for the third offseason in a row after the failed experiments of DJ Uiagalelei and Thomas Castellanos. The Seminoles are hoping that quarterback Ashton Daniels can replicate his performances against Vanderbilt and Alabama from last season.
WR Jayvan Boggs
There were high expectations for the true freshman Jayvan Boggs last year, as the former Cocoa High School standout won the Mr. Florida award. Plus, superstar Duce Robinson raved about him being an NFL-ready pass catcher. Boggs suffered injuries in Year 1 that kept him from having an impact last season. Even though the talk has centered around the youngsters Devin Carter and Jasen Lopez, it wouldn't surprise me to see the sophomore make a difference in 2026.
LB Omar Graham Jr.
Here we go again, as I am beating the drum for redshirt senior linebacker Omar Graham Jr. The former three-star prospect in the 2022 cycle has had a bumpy road during his time with Florida State, where injuries and inconsistencies have hampered his career. However, the coaching staff has raved about him this offseason, saying he has been the best that he has ever been. I am loving the potential of pairing him with transfer Chris Jones, especially in run support.
