Florida State is just a few hours away from kicking off the Week 4 game against Central Arkansas in Doak Campbell Stadium. Coach Mike Norvell and the Bears have history, as the coach was once a wide receiver on the team during his playing career. Despite the potentially happy memories, Florida State needs to deliver a dominating performance to prove changes have been made after the Week 3 collapse in Tuscaloosa.
The Seminoles have opened up as massive favorites over the Bears, and understandably so, but the manner in which the team wins is most important. Florida State needs to look cohesive on both sides of play, and the easiest way to do that is by taking away three of the most important players on the Central Arkansas roster.
3. Ashtyn Williams - LB, Junior
You cannot mention the 2026 Central Arkansas team without mentioning leading tackler Ashtyn Williams, whose 47 tackles this season are on track to blow his previous career-high from last season out of the water. Each defense needs a heart, and Williams has been the leader of the defense this season with his consistent and instinctual play.
When facing a linebacker as versatile as Williams, you cannot expect to completely avoid him all game. Instead, Florida State needs to match his physicality with power run plays, and perhaps by setting Ousmane Kromah and Tre Wisner free. You cannot overcome danger by avoiding it, and attacking the problem head-on will be the best way to slow down Williams.
2. Bryson Adamoh - DB, Freshman
Adamoh may be a freshman, but the talented defensive back currently leads the Bears' defense with three interceptions, which is half of the team's total. Seminoles' quarterback Ashton Daniels has not been the best at times with his decision-making, and challenging Adamoh could be a mistake waiting to happen.
There is, however, an upside to facing the Central Arkansas secondary and Adamoh, which is the height advantage. Duce Robinson towers over the Bears' secondary at 6-foot-6, and sometimes the best way around a defense is by going over it. Robinson is coming off a massive performance against Alabama that kept the Seminoles in the game, and if there is one person who could confidently overpower Adamoh, it would be Robinson.
1. Donovyn Omolo - QB, Sophomore
Central Arkansas does not have the strongest offense, but with the right combination of Omolo and his supporting cast, the team can move the football effectively. The sophomore is, in a lot of ways, the heart and the legs of the offense. His raw talent at the position helps fuel the Bears' offense, and his physical tools at 6-foot-2 make running the football much easier for the quarterback.
When Omolo is playing well, Central Arkansas can be a very solid team, but when he struggles, the rest of the offense feels it. Omolo has a minimum of one interception and three sacks in two losses, and no sacks in two wins. With a running quarterback like Omolo, who currently has 360 yards and two scores on the ground, applying pressure is key for an opposing defense.
Florida State needs to find a way to get into the head of Omolo early because once the quarterback finds a way to move the football, he becomes a bit harder to stop. Omolo leans on quick passes to prevent the pressure from getting to him, and it is going to be vital for the Seminoles' defense that he does not have any targets open early in his progressions. The longer Omolo has to wait to throw the football, the more likely he is to make a mistake.
Stopping Omolo and the Central Arkansas offense is going to be a team effort on defense for Florida State, however, as Omolo is not the easiest quarterback to bring down. With a physical build more closely resembling a linebacker, the quarterback is not afraid to put his shoulder right into contact despite fumbling earlier in the season. The Seminoles need to take advantage of his physical running tendencies by meeting him with an equal force.
