Florida State’s 2027 recruiting class isn’t where it needs to be right now. They only have six commitments in the class. With that said, the Seminoles finished with a 5-7 record and lost seven of their last nine games.

The fan base is looking for any positives to cling to, and, as we know, the quarterback position is very important to a team’s success. Having the legendary Jordan Travis helped Mike Norvell’s tenure at Florida State.

Other than Travis, there has been an overreliance on transfers, including McKenzie Milton, DJ Uiagalelei, Thomas Castellanos, and now Ashton Daniels. The results haven’t been pretty.

In terms of the 2027 recruiting class, the Seminoles were heavily involved with four-star Champ Monds IV from Vero Beach, Florida, but he chose to commit to Notre Dame, which was disappointing.

As a result, here are three quarterback prospects that need to be pivoted to with Monds IV committing to the Fighting Irish.

Four-star Jayce Johnson (Texas A&M commit)

Florida State has had success with recruiting in the state of Georgia, but they have had to battle the likes of Texas A&M with four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson from Valdosta before he ultimately committed to the Aggies. Johnson has visited Florida State several times and knows the coaching staff well. It would be a seamless fit.

Three-star Derrick Baker (Tennessee commit)

Another Georgia prospect mentioned here, as three-star Derrick Baker was someone that the coaching staff was recruiting before he chose to select Tennessee. Former quarterback Jordan Travis even put his recruiting hat on for the youngster. Baker came to Junior Day back in January and has attended many games in Tallahassee.

Three-star Logan Flaherty (uncommitted)

This selection is more obvious, as three-star Logan Flaherty from Port Charlotte, Florida, recently de-committed from UCF. Florida State was seen as a school that were heavy contenders. However, Rutgers is a team to watch with him officially visiting in late May.
