FSU football: Possible QB targets in the Transfer Portal
By Jason Zang
Will FSU football hit the transfer portal this off-season looking for QB help? Jordan Travis ended a great career at FSU with an unfortunate injury and will not return next season, and AJ Duffy has recently entered the transfer portal.
The Duffy move was not a big surprise due to him not moving past the No. 3 QB on the depth chart. Duffy was a 4-star quarterback coming out of IMG Academy, which featured more of a running attack while he was there. AJ also competed in the Elite 11 competition.
Departures
- Jordan Travis (Graduation)
- AJ Duffy (Transfer Portal)
Additions
- Luke Kromenhoek (2024 Commit)
2024 Projected QB Depth Chart
- Tate Rodemaker (RS Senior in 2024)
- Brock Glenn (RS freshman in 2024)
- Luke Kromenhoek (FR)
Tate would be the most experienced, and he only has a handful of starts. It would make sense for FSU to look at a possible grad transfer QB from the portal as a possible transition QB for a year to allow the others to gain more experience.

What makes sense for FSU
There is a very deep list of quarterback targets in the portal this off-season, and I expect that to continue moving forward in the NIL era.
Like I stated before, I think it makes sense for FSU to get a grad transfer that can be a stopgap for 2024. I anticipate 5-star prospect Luke Kromenhoek and Brock Glenn to compete in 2025 for the starting role. I do like Tate as a backup and spot starter, and he could possibly move on if FSU does indeed get a portal addition at QB. I hope he stays because he is a dependable player and a team-first guy.
The best fits in the portal for FSU football would be DJ Uiagalelei, Cameron Ward, or Dillion Gabriel. Any of those guys makes FSU an instant Championship contender going into 2024. My sleeper pick would be Will Howard from Kansas State. Rumor is USC is hot on Howard, and Lincoln Riley will push hard for him.
I trust Coach Norvell and his ability to lead this team, so will he hit the portal or roll the dice with Tate and Glenn in 2024.
