FSU football: Noles will face Louisville in the ACC Championship game
By Kelvin Hunt
No. 4 FSU football knows who they will face in the ACC Championship game. FSU clinched their spot a couple of weeks ago with a win over Pittsburgh.
However, their opponent was up in the air because a few teams had a few more conference games remaining. The two likely candidates were Louisville and North Carolina. The latter already had two conference losses and needed Louisville to lose against Miami Saturday while defeating Clemson and NC State to have a shot to clinch.
However, Louisville took care of business against Miami with an exciting 38-31 win at Miami Saturday afternoon.
The Noles will face Louisville in Charlotte on December 2 at 8 p.m. ET. It’s the first time the Noles have made the ACC Championship game since 2014. Louisville is 11-1 on the season, the lone loss, an upset against an underwhelming Pittsburgh team.
Louisville ranks solidly on offense and defense via advanced metrics and have wins over Notre Dame and Duke, who were in the top 25 at the time of their matchup. I think FSU matches up well agaisnt Louisville.
They don’t have a great secondary, and their quarterback play is average at best. They run the ball well, but FSU has been excellent against the traditional run game. If FSU limits them there, I don’t see their offense doing much.
FSU can attack Louisville’s defense through the air, as they have shown some vulnerabilities over the past couple of weeks. If you haven’t gotten your ACC Championship tickets, it might be a great time to do it since Louisville fans travel well.
Be sure to stay tuned to Chop Chat for more analysis and coverage of this matchup against Louisville. It should be a solid game, with FSU favored to win. However, FSU needs to take care of business against North Alabama and Florida the next two weeks.
