FSU football: Impact players in matchup versus Virginia Tech
LB Kalen DeLoach
The veteran linebacker had one of his best performances in the victory over the Clemson Tigers. The massive hit that he had on Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik will go down as an all-time Seminole moment that allowed Florida State to beat the Tigers for the first time since 2014. As it pertains to DeLoach, the Savannah (GA) native has recorded 17 total tackles (4.5 tackles for loss) and three sacks this season. The linebacker play has been exceptional with the likes of DeLoach, Tatum Bethune, and DJ Lundy manning the middle of the defense.
Virginia Tech has a dual-threat quarterback in Kyron Drones who is dynamic with the utilization of his legs. He is also tough to bring down with his 6’2″, 231-pound frame. Drones made his presence felt in the Hokies’ victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers where he completed 12 of his 19 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns, while also having 21 carries for 41 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. If the Seminoles want to be successful on defense, they have to ensure that Drones is contained.
