FSU football: Should Nole fans worry about Lester III’s recent UF visit?
FSU football has done a tremendous job of acquiring highly-touted prospects for the future foundation of their program.
The Seminoles are currently ranked No. 6 in the 2024 247Sports Composite rankings, headlined by prospects such as five-star safety KJ Bolden and five-star cornerback Charles Lester III.
Speaking of Lester III, the Venice High School standout took an unofficial visit to the arch-rival Florida Gators as they took on the Charlotte 49ers this past weekend. The talented defensive back has also stated that he is planning on taking an official visit to Gainesville in December.
This caused some fans to worry, given the Seminoles’ have had recent failures to get highly-touted prospects to sign with the university on Signing Day (yes, I’m referring to Travis Hunter).
While the Gators have a nice victory this season when they defeated the Tennessee Volunteers by a score of 29-16 at home, head football coach Billy Napier and company still have to play the likes of Kentucky, Vanderbilt (cannot discredit the Commodores’ victory from last season), South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, LSU, Missouri, and of course Florida State.
I understand that it is always a cause of concern when committed prospects visit other universities. However, the Gators have a long road ahead with their season. Florida State needs to handle its business on the field, and everything will take care of its self.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
As it pertains to Lester III, these are teenagers making one of the most difficult decisions in their entire lives. Most of them will likely never get to experience the recruiting process of visiting a variety of locations ever again after high school. It is wise to cherish these opportunities and make the most of them.
Lester III is a tremendous talent. While I selfishly hope that he ultimately chooses to sign with the Seminoles when the time comes, he has to make the best decision for himself and his loved ones.
