FSU football gained a commitment from five-star cornerback Charles Lester III Friday night. He is the second five-star commit in the 2024 recruiting class, replacing Landen Thomas as the highest-ranked recruit.

The Noles still have to sign him, but he would be the first five-star cornerback to sign with FSU since Levonta Taylor in the 2016 recruiting cycle.

I wrote my thoughts on the Charles Lester III recruitment earlier this week and predicted it would be FSU, despite all the noise surrounding his trip to Boulder, Colorado.

I know FSU fans have PTSD with Deion Sanders and recruiting cornerbacks, dating back to the Travis Hunter debacle in December 2021.

However, this recruitment was quite different for all the reasons I listed earlier this week. This addition was a huge recruiting win for Mike Norvell, Patrick Surtain, and Adam Fuller. The commitment thrusts FSU back in front of Clemson for the No. 8 ranking nationally.

FSU could receive more good news with another blue-chip commitment Saturday, which would put the Noles in the No. 7 spot as long as they don’t have any attrition from the class(they could lose one at some point).
