FSU football head coach Mike Norvell met with the media after the Seminoles won over the Boston College Eagles by a score of 31-29 on Saturday afternoon. Here are some takeaways from the post-game presser:

-It is great to be able to leave with a win. The team did not play to the level they needed to for sixty minutes. Both sides of the ball had moments of lapses, whether it was focus or execution.

-Quarterback for Boston College (Thomas Castellanos) did some good things where he extended plays with his legs. They did a good job of possessing the ball and converting on third downs.

-Made some critical mistakes that we cannot have that allowed that game to be a one-score contest at the end.

-The team was in a good position where we were up by 21 points in the third quarter then they had the fumble that resulted in a defensive touchdown.

-We get to grow from what happened today. Believes in the team to respond from the situation. Knew that it was going to be an emotional game from Boston College.

-The team has a standard that Norvell wants them to push to. Got to continue to work to push to that standard.

-Jordan Travis did some good things in the third quarter. Had a couple of mistakes that cost them. Going into halftime, Norvell was very confident that Travis will be rolling in for the second half.

-Emphasize the importance of ball security, and was disappointed that it showed up in the game. We have to execute better.

-Thought defense did a nice job of forcing Boston College into long distance situations.

-Got to give credit to Boston College’s defense for fixing in the box to neutralize the rushing attack.

-Its hard to simulate when you are on the road when you have a big lead and all of it starts to go away. The natural human instinct that you have to press. You have to take a deep breathe and focus on the next play. Ultimately, we got away from that a little bit.

-Squib kicks are obviously challenging. It was a good plan by Boston College. Told Trey Benson to secure the ball and get on it. Got to be better in our execution of that.

-That game we just played was close to going a couple of different ways. We made some mistakes. Guys responded well, specifically defensively, in the second quarter. Offense got going in the third quarter. It was not a lack of work or investment. Distractions will always be there. Believes the team will bounce back from what we just saw.
