FSU football has several players on national watch lists. Jordan Travis, Trey Benson, Jared Verse, Johnny Wilson, Jaheim Bell, Keon Coleman, and Maurice Smith, to name a few.

The latest player to make a national watch list is FSU offensive tackle Bless Harris.

Harris got named to the 2023 Comeback Player of the Year Watch List this week. Harris transferred to FSU football from Lamar University before the 2022 season and earned the starting right tackle job.

He played int he season opener against Duquesne, but suffered an injury and missed the remaining 12 games. Harris rehabbed and worked himself back on the field and will likely be one of the starting tackles for the Noles in the 2023 season opener against LSU.

Harris looked good in the spring and has continued to seperate himself. FSU coaches recently said they have eight players they believe can go out and help win football games and another 2-3 they trust to play at a high level.

Harris falls into the former category, often holding his own against the likes of Jared Verse in practice. The tackle positions were probably the weakest links on the offensive line in 2022. A healthy Bless Harris, Robert Smith, or Jeremiah Byers is a significant upgrade to the line overall.

The line’s inability to move the line of scrimmage cost them a few times against some of the top defenses they faced, which ultimately cost them points in the red zone. The line also benefited from having Jordan Travis, with his elusive ability to evade pressure when they allowed immediate pressure a few times.

Bless Harris didn’t exactly set the fan base on fire when he committed, but now fans understand how good he can be and how much of an impact he can have in 2023. Here’s to hoping he can stay healthy and earn a shot to play at the next level.
