FSU football has several players getting recognized on preseason watch lists. These lists usually involve the best players across the country at their position. Have you wondered which FSU players were on which list? Here’s the entire list and what each award is for is they should win it:

  • Jordan TravisMaxwell Watch List (Outstanding Player in College Football), Davey O’Brien Award Watch List (Most Outstanding College QB)
  • Trey BensonMaxwell Watch List (Outstanding Player in College Football), Paul Hornung Award Watch List (Nation’s Most Versatile Player), Doak Walker Watch List (Top College Running Back)
  • Jared VerseBronco Nagurski Watch List (Best Defensive Player in College Football), Wuerffel Trophy Watch List (Premier Community Service Award)
  • Fentrell CypressBronko Nagurski Watch List (Best Defensive Player in College Football)
  • Jeremiah ByersOutland Watch List (Best Interior OL)
  • James RosenberryPatrick Mannelly Award (Top Long Snapper)
  • Alex MastromannoRay Guy Watch List (Top Punter)
  • Maurice SmithRimington Trophy Watch List (Most Outstanding Center in College Football)
  • Jaheim BellMackey Award Watch List (Most Outstanding Tight End in College Football)
  • Johnny WilsonBiletnikoff Award Watch List (Most Outstanding FBS College Receiver)
  • Keon ColemanBiletnikoff Award Watch List (Most Outstanding FBS College Receiver)

That’s a lot of great players, and ironically, only three of those players originally began their careers at FSU and didn’t come via the transfer portal. These players could be up for a few more watchlists. I know Jordan Travis is already in the Heisman Trophy conversation after his performance last season.

FSU has a lot of talent on both sides of the ball and had four players land on the All-ACC Preseason Team. They had 15 players to make some version of the ALL-ACC team after the 2022 season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see that number increase in 2023, especially if the Noles win the ACC.
