FSU football coaches have done a good job filling needs in its 2024 recruiting class with quality players.
They have some major targets remaining and hope to land a big target Friday with five-star defensive back Charles Lester III.

However, they have already started building relationships with 2025 players and beyond. They already have a 2025 blue-chip QB and receiver committed and will look to build on that success with a strong 2023 season.

Tuesday, FSU extended an offer to four-star defensive lineman Jaylen Williams. Williams hails from Palatine, Illinois, and holds offers from Auburn, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Louisville, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin.

Williams lists at 6’6″ and 265 pounds and ranks as the No. 222 player nationally and the No. 24 defensive lineman. He ranks as the No. 5 player in Illinois. Williams plays defensive end in high school, but I’m not sure the level of competition he plays against.

He looks fairly quick and agile once he gets moving, but I’m not sure about his first step. Williams could grow into an interior guy considering he’s already this size going into his junior year in high school.

However, since FSU defensive ends coach John Papuchis extended the offer, I suppose FSU likes him at the edge position. The Noles have one defensive end committed for the 2024 class and will look to take at least 1-2 more quality players.

Williams is a player that has offers from mostly Midwest schools, and those guys always seem to stay in that general area.

He’ll be a player to keep tabs on to see if they can get him to campus sometime soon on an unofficial visit. If that happens, then we’ll know there’s mutual interest. Tennessee looks like the only school he’s visited after receiving an offer this spring.
