FSU football: 3-star OT Tye Hylton chooses Noles over Florida and Miami

FSU football recruiting added its first offensive lineman to the 2024 recruiting class when four-star offensive tackle Jonathan Daniels committed to the Noles Thursday afternoon.

It didn’t take Alex Atkins long to add the second one in as many days when three-star Tye Hylton committed to FSU Friday afternoon.

The Oviedo, Florida, native choose the Noles over Florida, Miami, and Penn State. FSU was the first of the in-state schools to offer Hylton in January 2023. Miami followed with an offer about two weeks later, and Florida offered in March.

Hylton took official visits to all three in-state schools, plus Penn State. He visited Penn State on June 2, Miami on June 9, and Florida on June 16, with FSU getting his last visit on June 23.

That was the huge recruiting weekend, where FSU coaches had 14 official visitors on campus.

Five of those visitors were FSU commits, with three un-committed visitors from that weekend committing earlier this month. Hylton is the fourth, with FSU expecting commits from potentially two more players who visited that weekend and were un-committed.

Hylton ranks as the No. 954 player and the No. 72 offensive tackle nationally. He lists at 6’4″ and 270 pounds and will take a couple of years to develop into a player for the Noles, which is ideal. In a year considered a down year for offensive linemen, and offensive tackles, Hylton is a solid get for Alex Atkins.

I expect FSU to turn their attention back to the offensive line target and USC commit Jason Zandamela.

Zandamela had an official visit scheduled for the same June 23 weekend as Hylton and Daniels, but committed to USC shortly before that scheduled trip and decided against coming to Tallahassee.

A trio of Hylton, Daniels, and Zandamela would be an amazing haul in this cycle for Alex Atkins.
