FSU football is attempting to secure much-needed momentum in the 2024 recruiting cycle as the Seminoles rank No. 19 in the 247Sports’ Composite rankings.

As I alluded to in a previous article about four-star cornerback Ricky Knight III, defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain has not landed a commitment since being hired on January 18, 2023. However, the Seminoles have done a tremendous job expanding the target board for the position.

Cornerbacks such as five-star Charles Lester III, four-star Ricky Knight III, and three-star Kevin Levy all have crystal ball predictions favoring the Seminoles.

On Sunday afternoon, four-star cornerback Jalewis Solomon from Schley County in Ellaville, Georgia, stated to a variety of media members that Florida State is now his number one school. Solomon has already officially visited South Carolina (June 2-4) and Kentucky (June 16-18) this summer and plans to possibly officially visit Texas A&M and Auburn down the road.

FSU views Solomon as someone who can be a man-to-man cornerback. His 6’1″, 185-pound frame could cause nightmares for opposing receivers. On the defensive side of the football, he had 29 tackles, four pass breakups, and three interceptions. He was also a viable receiving option, where he caught 86 passes for 1,210 yards and ten touchdowns.

Fans are anxiously awaiting the next commitment at FSU, considering five-star tight end Landen Thomas was the last commit that the Seminoles had on April 17, 2023. There should be some fireworks on July 4th that could make a ton of fans happy. In terms of Solomon’s recruitment, he expects to make his commitment before his senior season.

If head football coach Mike Norvell and company were able to land five-star Charles Lester III, four-star Ricky Knight III, four-star Jalewis Solomon, and three-star Kevin Levy, that would be a lethal combination for a 2024 squad that will have to replace the likes of Renardo Green, Jarrian Jones, and possibly even Fentrell Cypress II if he performs well.
