FSU football: FSU WR Destyn Hill is officially on the roster
FSU football freshman wide receiver Destyn Hill has been officially added to the Seminoles’ 2023-2024 football roster.
His picture and recruiting accolades were added to the FSU website Tuesday.
Per Hill’s player profile description on Seminoles.com:
"“Consensus four-star wide receiver rated 19th nationally in Class of 2021 at his position and No. 5 overall in Louisiana on 247Sports Composite…tabbed 89th in ESPN300 and 88th overall prospect by On3…ranked as Louisiana’s No. 3 prospect and nation’s No. 14 wide receiver by ESPN and On3…rated as 20th wide receiver in America and No. 7 prospect in Louisiana by 247Sports…was state’s No. 6 prospect and country’s No. 25 wide receiver according to Rivals…helped lead Cougars to championship game of 4A state playoffs in senior season…had 33 receptions for 806 yards and 15 touchdowns…made 54 receptions for 1,047 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior, helping Edna Karr win 2019 4A state championship.“"
He will be wearing No. 7 this season and is listed at 6’0” and 195 pounds. With Hill added to the roster, the Seminoles now have 11 scholarship wide receivers:
•Winston Wright Jr, RS Sr
•Deuce Spann, RS Jr
•Johnny Wilson, RS Jr
•JaKhi Douglas, RS Jr
•Kentron Poitier, RS Jr
•Joshua Burrell, RS Soph
•Darion Williamson, RS Soph
•Hykeem Williams, Fr
•Vandrevius Jacobs, Fr
•Goldie Lawrence, Fr
•Destyn Hill, Fr
Hill looks to be in great shape and reportedly has been working out feverishly for the past six months, even working out with his old high school track team to maintain his explosive speed. I expect him to be able to contribute on special teams at the very least, especially the punt return role vacated by Mycah Pittman transferring to Utah. Hill has had time to study the FSU offense from afar, but the question remains how long will it take him to get acclimated to contact and the nuances of the offense?
Even with the Louisiana native in the fold, the Seminoles are still exploring the idea of acquiring a wide receiver prospect via the transfer portal.
The most coveted player in the portal for Florida State so far has been Michigan State pass-catcher Keon Coleman, who had 58 receptions for 798 yards and seven touchdowns in 2022 with the Spartans. The decision could be coming in the near future between two schools: Ole Miss and Florida State.
If the Seminoles were to miss on acquiring Coleman, they could pivot to UTSA transfer Zakhari Franklin. The talented playmaker had 94 catches for 1,136 yards and 15 touchdowns.
