I’ve talked about FSU football and where they have come in a year several times on social media.

This time last year, FSU had barely launched its NIL program in Rising Spear, and Amarius Mims had just indicated he was removing himself from the transfer portal to stay at UGA.

Fast forward, a year later, FSU’s NIL platforms of The Battle’s End and Rising Spear combine to make FSU competitive nationally in the NIL landscape.

Oh, and FSU is getting five-star players to flip from UGA to FSU, while in the mix for more. Fans can no longer talk smack about Ron Dugans, with FSU getting four-blue chip wide receivers to commit after signing two of the better wide receivers in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

Tony Tokarz has proven his mettle on the recruiting trails, discovering Luke Kromenhoek and already getting a 2025 QB to commit in Tramell Jones. Alex Atkins does Alex Atkins things. John Papuchis is doing well at defensive end recruiting, and FSU has the best team since the 2016 season.

If everyone is healthy, I might take the 2023 team over the 2016 team if I had to make a pick. I know it’s hard to remove the emotion because that’s why we’re fans. However, Mike Norvell continues to prove that patience is a virtue and things are never as bad as they seem.

Although, admittedly, things had gotten pretty bad in Tallahassee. However, it’s all about trusting the process and understanding Mike Norvell has a plan.

If they don’t offer a guy in recruiting or pursue him hard, there’s likely a reason. Sometimes things happen in recruiting that we’ll never know about, but that doesn’t mean the staff can’t recruit. I think folks finally realize that’s the case with the coaching staff.

They are capable recruiters when the product on the field is respectable. That’ll likely be the case in 2023, so I don’t expect recruiting at this level to slow down anytime soon.

Buckle up because things about to get spooky in Tallahassee again.
