FSU football and Mike Norvell and his staff had a good Thursday, as four-star athlete Lawayne McCoy took an unofficial visit to Tallahassee and came away impressed.

McCoy gave his commitment to Coach Norvell and the Seminoles.

McCoy said Coach Norvell was fired up when he gave his commitment which got him fired up! Lawayne said he feels at home when he visits Florida State, and it’s like he is in his own backyard.

He also likes what he sees at practice and how they like to throw the ball deep.

Scouting Report on McCoy:

I really like his size at 6′ 0″ and 170lbs. He has long arms and catches well with his hands. He knows how to go up and get the ball and not wait for it. He has plus speed and can easily get separation from the defender. He’s from south Florida and ranks as the No. 331 player nationally and No. 30 athlete. So much for the wall Mario Cristobal was going to build around that area.

Final Thoughts:

This commitment is a great addition for FSU football to go with Camdon Frier and Tawaski Abrams. They should make Luke Kromenhoek’s job a lot easier. I see McCoy on the outside using his size and speed, with Camdon Frier on the other outside spot, and have Abrams working from the slot. FSU hasn’t had this much talent at WR in a freshman class for a while now.

Throw in the best running back in the class Kameron Davis, and you have one heck of a freshman class in 2024. Tribe ’24 is climbing right now, and this is great momentum to have to go into the spring game this weekend.

There are a host of blue-chip recruits coming to the spring game Saturday, and I am sure Luke and the boys will be recruiting hard. Momentum is in FSU’s favor right now and Norvell, and his staff are firing on all cylinders.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see more player committing soon.
