FSU softball (24-6, 3-0 ACC) completed its series sweep over the Syracuse Orange Sunday with an 8-0 run-rule victory.

Ali DuBois was the starting pitcher and went 2.2 innings allowing two hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. She threw 59 pitches, 39 for strikes. Kathryn Sandercock pitched two innings and got the win, allowing no hits and one strikeout.

FSU batters pounded 11 hits, with Hallie Wacaser and Kalei Harding as the stars of the game. Wacaser went 3-3 with her first home run of the season, and Harding went 2-3 with a home run. Josie Muffley went 2-2 with two RBI.

Jahni Kerr went 1-3 with a three-run home run. Syracuse flashed the defensive leather early in the series but made three errors Sunday afternoon.

FSU started the scoring in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead and scored three in the third and four runs in the bottom of the fourth for the 8-0 lead.

FSU batters didn’t strike out once in Sunday’s game. Syracuse only managed two hits Sunday. The series theme for Syracuse was a lack of offense, as FSU pitchers only allowed one run in three games.

Overall, Syracuse isn’t a good team, and it was good to see the Noles take care of business in the ACC opener after not playing well on the road trip to Oklahoma early last week.

Defensively, they played fairly well, only making two errors in the series. They still don’t have all their big bats firing on all cylinders yet. Michaela Edenfield didn’t play in Sunday’s game as she looks for ways to find her form from last year.

A promising development was FSU pitchers only issued three walks in the series. FSU will be off until they travel to Durham to take on No. 15 Duke Friday at 6 p.m.
