FSU football went into the Early Signing Day with a handful of uncommitted prospects they could sign. One of those was four-star safety and Penn State commit Conrad Hussey.

Hussey chose to sign with the Noles Wednesday after flirting hard with Miami down the stretch. Hussey committed to Penn State on April 25th after they offered him in May 2021. FSU didn’t get into the game with an offer until January 2022.

The Noles got Hussey on campus for an unofficial visit in June after he had already committed to Penn State and turned up the heat on him as he grew up a fan of the Noles.

A South Florida guy with relationships with FSU signee Hykeem Williams, and FSU signee Edwin Joseph didn’t hurt.

It also didn’t hurt that Penn State had three other blue-chip safeties in their 2023 recruiting class.

Overall Thoughts

Hussey is a quality player, ranked No. 238 nationally and the No. 19 safety. It’s also nice from a perception standpoint to flip a player from a brand-name program like Penn State.

The safety position is a priority, with McCall in the transfer portal, Jammie Robinson potentially heading to the NFL Draft, and Akeem Dent potentially gone after 2023.

FSU signees Kenton Kirkland and Quindarrius Jones will likely play safety at FSU, so the addition of Hussey adds competition, talent, and depth in one recruiting cycle. Hussey isn’t an early enrollee and should arrive in Tallahassee in the summer.

He’s the 17th and likely final high school player in the 2023 recruiting class. FSU has a grand total of 23 commits(including six transfers), and have at least three via transfer targets they are waiting on to make a decision. If they land those three targets alone, this would be the best FSU football class in recent memory with nearly every need met.
