The week keeps getting better after FSU football destroyed their rival Miami to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2019.
It was the second consecutive win over the Canes, and the win propelled the Noles into the Top 25 College Football Playoff Rankings for the first time since 2016.
FSU football is the only team of the Big 3 to find themselves in the rankings and will have an opportunity to win their first state championship with a win over the Florida Gators in the season finale.
The Noles check in at No. 23 as the rankings released Tuesday night:

Ironically, every advanced metric out there has the Noles as one of the top 20 teams in the nation. Check out the advanced metrics composite stats:

Notice there are three ACC teams ranked ahead of the Noles in the College Football Playoff Rankings. It’s Clemson, North Carolina, and NC State.
However, in the stats that more accurately measure how good a team is, Clemson is the only team ahead of the Noles. North Carolina hasn’t played anyone, with three of their wins against non-Power 5 teams, and NC State is a flawed team offensively.
I know some FSU fans only want to look at the wins and losses, but even those portray an extraordinary amount of growth over the past few years. Now, the wins back up what the advanced metrics have been telling us for the past 17 games, and that this FSU football team would roll any FSU team from the past four years.
It’s not close, and they will have an opportunity to continue that momentum into next year if a few key pieces return for the Noles in 2023. FSU football has a favorable schedule and could make some noise for the first time in a while.
