FSU football: 3 overreactions to ‘Noles loss against NC State
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football suffered a heartbreaking loss Saturday night against NC State. The Noles blew a 17-3 halftime lead and didn’t score a single point in the second half, reminiscent of the program’s loss in 2012 with Jimbo Fisher at the helm.
Admittedly, that team had bigger aspirations and more talent. However, Saturday is a game FSU should have won by double digits and the loss has fans still fuming two days later. Mike Norvell and the coordinators spoke about the loss during Monday’s press conference.
It’s a game they know they let slip away, and Norvell took full blame for the loss and not having his players prepared for certain adjustments NC State made during the game. The crazy thing, as bad as the Noles played in the second half, they still should have won the game going away because of missed opportunities by the offense in the first half.
A lack of focus in key situations, dropped passes, penalties, and turnovers gifted NC State a win, even though they played most of the second half without their starting quarterback.
Ironically, I was one of the few people to pick FSU to beat NC State because I felt they hadn’t beaten anyone yet, and their defensive stats had some padding because of the lack of competition through five games.
I was right, because only FSU stopped FSU Saturday night after dominating NC State in the first half. There were a lot of overreactions Saturday night, but here are three I want to address.
