FSU football will host Wake Forest Saturday afternoon in a matchup of two top 25 teams. On the surface, this game feels pretty simple for FSU fans.

If the FSU defense can slow down the Wake Forest offense enough, they’ll have a great shot at winning the game.

Both offenses have shown incredible explosiveness, though the FSU offense has faced better competition through four games.

The FSU offense has more layers to it, meaning they can find success through the air or by running the ball. Also, Jordan Travis has yet to use his legs as part of the running attack, and that’s a dynamic Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman doesn’t do near the same level.

Wake Forest gets most of its yardage through the air, as 72 percent of it comes via the pass. That’s despite running the ball 52 percent of the time.

Their two leading running backs averaged 3.94 yards per rush. However, the Demon Deacons do a solid job of using the quick passing game as an extension of their running game.

The slow mesh offense is unique and poses some issues, so it’s not as simple as stopping the run and making them one dimensional. Here are three defensive keys to beating Wake Forest.
