FSU football will travel to Louisville Friday night with a lot of the line. They’ll look to keep the momentum from the upset win over LSU but recognize some underlying storylines between the two teams.

There’s a lot of crossover between the two teams, dating back to quarterback Jordan Travis transferring from Louisville to FSU in 2019. Defensive tackle Jarrett Jackson transferred from Louisville to FSU in 2020.

Also, Mike Norvell flipped four-star quarterback Chubba Purdy from Louisville at the last minute in the 2020 recruiting cycle. This spring, Louisville defensive back Greedy Vance left Louisville for FSU football.

However, Louisville finally got a lick back when starting defensive back Jarvis Brownlee transferred from FSU to Louisville. Brownlee didn’t leave on the best of terms, missing most of the spring practice while complaining about not having any NIL deals.

Apparently, Brownlee has had the FSU game circled since he got to Louisville:

I can assure you FSU football fans didn’t take that comment lying down because no love is lost, dating back to Brownlee getting burned several times last year, including allowing the game-winning touchdown against Jacksonsville State.

Thoughts

Man, these comments and gifs are hilarious! However, FSU fans have a point. Brownlee was aggressive and solid against the run, but he had trouble staying with receivers with good speed.

Let’s not forget the footage of Brownlee getting cooked at practice by walk-on wide receivers.

Teams have picked on Brownlee in the first two games with some success, although he did come up big with a late interception to help seal the win over UCF last week.

It’ll be interesting to see how Mike Norvell calls this game, knowing what Jarvis Brownlee can and can’t do well.

I suspect they’ll look to establish the run since Louisville has had trouble stopping it, but testing Brownlee vertically as he looks to be aggressive in the run game. I love the smack talk and can’t wait until Friday night!
