FSU football: Quick thoughts on depth chart for Duquesne game
By Kelvin Hunt
I suppose I’m somewhat surprised to see Treshaun Ward and Lawrance Toafili listed as the starters. I know the latter had a great camp, and maybe this is more of an incentive to reward Toafili for the hard work he put in.
However, I expect Trey Benson to get significant carries. Mycah Pittman listed as a starter is no surprise, but Deuce Spann actually making the depth chart as a potential starter is big! It’s good to see Malik McClain and Johnny Wilson as potential starters.
It’s also good to see Kentron Poitier listed on the two-deep, as it’s a sign he had a good fall camp. Things could change, but no Ja’Khi Douglas or Keyshawn Helton was something I noticed.
I’m surprised to see Camren McDonald listed since he missed most of fall camp, but Marketston Douglas listed as a starter was good to see since he seemed to flash throughout camp.
Defensively, there wasn’t much guess work as I had most of the starters penciled in. I figured Renardo Green would be the starter at field corner after fall camp. Freshmen Azareya’h Thomas and Sam McCall listed on the two deep at boundary cornerback is a good sign for those youngsters.
DJ Lundy listed as a potential starter was a bit of a surprise, but again, likley more to reward him for the hard work he put in this offseason. I expect Kalen DeLoach to start. I wasn’t sure who would be the other starting defensive end, but I’m not shocked it is Derrick McLendon OR Jared Verse.
