FSU football: Site ranks Jordan Travis among top 30 QB’s nationally

The success of FSU football QB Jordan Travis will largely dictate how many wins the Noles have in 2022. I’ve said it many times, but FSU wins eight games if Jordan Travis starts every game in 2021.

His propensity for injuries concerns me, but his improvement as a passer could mean big things for the Noles in 2022.

The ACC has one of the deepest QB talent pools nationally, and Jordan Travis isn’t near the top of that list? If healthy, could he be up there?

Absolutely, and that’s likely why Athlon Sports ranks him as the No. 30 QB nationally out of 131:

Athlon Sports ranks Jordan Travis over the likes of other ACC quarterbacks like Phil Jurkovec, DJ Uiagalelei, Garrett Shrader, Jeff Sims, and others.

They also have him ranked higher than LSU’s perceived starter, Jayden Daniels. They rank Sam Hartman, Devin Leary, Brennan Armstrong, Tyler Van Dyke, and Malik Cunningham above Travis. That’s fair, though Hartman may miss some of the season, and I’m not that high on Devin Leary.

I think Van Dyke will come back to earth since folks have more footage of him, they lost their top two receivers, and Miami will likely focus more on running the ball. Malik Cunningham causes problems for every defense.

Jordan Travis is dynamic with his legs, but if he can continue to improve as a passer the way he did in the final three games of the 2021 season? His dual-threat ability makes him one of the most dangerous QBs in the nation.

FSU coaches trust him more, FSU has better talent at wide receiver, and the offensive line should improve.

If Jordan Travis can stay healthy, I don’t think it’s too far-fetch to say he’s a top 30 QB nationally. There’s likely some wiggle-room there, but he’s expected to shoulder more of the load for the Noles in 2022.

A healthy Jordan Travis likely gets FSU to 7-8 wins minimum.
