FSU football has had a weird recruiting board when it comes to defensive backs in the 2023 cycle.

The Noles have offered 39 defensive backs and only have one commitment from three-star athlete(safety) Quindarrius Jones. After that, it’s been slim pickings.

I’m not sure what’s going on with the recruiting board, but it’s almost like the coaching staff isn’t in love with too many prospects they can realistically sign in this recruiting cycle.

I think that’s one reason we saw them flirt so much with defensive backs from the transfer portal in the spring. Nevertheless, one athlete they have seemingly been recruiting at cornerback has de-committed from Maryland:

Nasir Addison is a three-star athlete/WR hailing from Irvington, New Jersey, with 14 offers. He had been committed to Maryland since October 9th, 2021.

FSU football offered him in January 2022, and it looks like Kentucky and Michigan State have been recruiting him the hardest, according to a recent interview with 247Sports. He was going to play wide receiver at Maryland, but all three of these schools want him as a cornerback.

Of course, FSU football lost a defensive back recruiting battle against Kentucky a few days ago with four-star safety Avery Stuart. The Noles haven’t had a strong presence in the northeast, and Alex Atkins lists as the primary recruiter. Could Addison be the next Xavier Rhodes for the Noles?

A former three-star receiver converted into one of the better defensive backs in the nation? Addison lists at 6’3″ and 190 pounds. A cornerback at that size? I can’t find a verified time for his speed, but that’s the length the coaching staff wants in their defensive backs. We’ll see if they can make a move here, so stay tuned to see if they can get him on campus for a visit soon.
