FSU football fans are optimistic the Noles will improve upon their product on the field in 2022. Here’s why special teams could be the key to it all.

How important are special teams? FSU football head coach Mike Norvell highlighted that phase of the game during his introductory press conference in December 2019.

It has been a phase of the game that’s been among the worst in college football for the Noles the last two years and below average, dating back to the 2018 season.

Many conversations with FSU fans center around how many games the Noles can win in 2022.

Most win projections have them around the six or seven-win mark. I’m on record believing they can win eight games if they have good injury luck at quarterback.

However, the more I think about it if they can make improvements on special teams and the defense can be what we think it can be under Adam Fuller?

I’ll feel even better about the possibility of winning eight games. The defense should be the strength of this team, while the offense should make another stride forward in 2022.

However, improved special teams will help both of those phases out tremendously. Let’s take a look at how it works.
