FSU football only had one player drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft with Jermaine Johnson going No. 26 overall to the NY Jets.

Jashaun Corbin was the other player most thought had a realistic shot of getting drafted it wasn’t in the cards for him or others that entered the draft.

However, Jashaun Corbin, Keir Thomas, Devontay Love-Taylor, and Andrew Parchment have already found new NFL homes as undrafted free agents.

They announced their intentions via their social media accounts Saturday night:

A couple of former Noles like Emmett Rice, Meiko Dotson, and Jordan Wilson could find homes as UDFA. Some people may question if Jashaun Corbin made a mistake by leaving FSU early, but I wouldn’t say that’s the case.

I don’t think he would have improved his draft stock more by playing another year, and he’s already dealt with a terrible hamstring injury while in college. It’s probably better he signed as an UDFA than getting drafted in the last round or so.

Players have more freedom when signing as UDFA and may be able to command more money in certain situations. We saw that with Marvin Wilson after last year’s draft. I feel badly for a player like Rice, who got robbed of playing this past season due to injuries.

A strong year may have seen him elevate towards becoming a draftable player. Meiko Dotson also dealt with injuries most of the time since transferring to FSU. Jordan Wilson missed all of 2020 with an achilles injury, and Devontay Love-Taylor missed most of last year with an injury.

However, everything happens for a reason, and there are different avenues to play professionally and ultimately make it to the NFL. Congrats to all of these guys because they have made it farther than most football players in their lifetime.

Here’s to making the most of their opportunities and representing the Noles in the NFL.
