FSU baseball (19-13, 7-8 ACC) looks to build off their shutout win over the Florida Gators as they host top 10 Louisville 24-8, 9-3 ACC) in a pivotal ACC series.

Louisville batters are hitting .321 with an on-base percentage of .434 and have hit 58 home runs, 67 doubles, and 16 triples.

Louisville pitchers will enter the contest with a 5.02 ERA, with opposing teams batting .253, with 317 strikeouts and 144 walks in 292 innings. They have allowed 36 home runs.

Defensively, Louisville has 33 errors for a fielding percentage of .972.

FSU baseball pitchers enter the contest with a 3.90 ERA, with opposing teams batting .227, with 405 strikeouts and 119 walks in 300.1 innings.

FSU batters are hitting .267 with an on-base percentage of .367 and have 36 home runs, 69 doubles, and four triples.

Defensively, FSU has 37 errors for a fielding percentage of .970. Louisville has played the more difficult schedule, with an RPI ranking of No. 27, compared to FSU’s No. 30 ranking.

Key To Victory

This series will need for FSU baseball to get back to the basics. Offensively, Louisville can swing it as they have three players with double-digit home runs and eight players hitting .290 or better. FSU pitchers will have to stay ahead in the count, or they will pay dearly. They can’t issue free passes and must make Cardinal batters earn it.

FSU batters should be able to take advantage of Louisville pitching if they go up to the plate with a solid approach. Their best pitcher has allowed 10 earned runs between his last two starts. I think we need to see FSU get off to good starts on the mound and at the plate. If they have to play from behind, that’s not going to be a good recipe for success. I’m am a little weary of people’s expectations after the Florida game. The Noles only had one hit after the second inning after scoring five runs in the first. Hopefully, they can have another strong start Thursday night.

Thursday’s game will begin at 7 p.m. ET and air on the ACCNX channel.
