How much will 2022 FSU football Spring Game impact recruiting?
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football will host its 2022 Spring Game Saturday afternoon in Doak Campbell Stadium. It’ll be an opportunity for the veteran players to display their growth in front of fans for the first time since the 2021 season finale.
It’ll be an opportunity for the 23 newcomers this spring to show fans what they are capable of in a game setting. It’ll also be a great opportunity for recruits to get on campus and experience what FSU football has to offer.
Last year, the spring game took place, but coaches were not allowed to interact with recruits due to the pandemic-induced recruiting dead period. There was no spring game in Mike Norvell’s first season due to COVID, and so this weekend will be his first opportunity to use the spring game as a recruiting event.
They have already started well, with some of the top recruits in 2023, 2024, and beyond planning to attend. FSU coaches have put a ton of energy into getting players to campus all spring, with several players making multiple visits. Could the spring game be the setting to see a couple of commitment announcements?
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of players to announce. Some coaches like to call it fake momentum, but it’s a real thing in recruiting. Players see and hear about other players wanting to play for a school or coach, so naturally, that makes them want to see what’s going on at that school.
It also helps create program momentum as the players and coaches wrap up spring camp and head into their summer workout schedules.
The Noles were trending for a few blue-chip players a few weeks ago, which I highlighted here. I still think FSU is in a good spot for most of these players and likely a few more.
If FSU has gotten a player on campus multiple times over the past few months, and they visit this weekend for the spring game? Always follow the visits in college football recruiting.
