FSU softball (28-2, 7-2 ACC) got their second consecutive win with a 12-0 shutout win over Troy in midweek action Wednesday night.

It was the Michaela Edenfield and Devyn Flaherty show on the offensive side. Both batters went 3-3. Edenfield had a double and two home runs with five RBIs.

Flaherty had a home run and two singles, and a stolen base. Kaley Mudge and Jahni Kerr had two hits, with the team totaling 14 hits, three walks, and five stolen bases.

Several FSU pitchers saw action, with Kathryn Sandercock getting her 15th win.

She pitched one inning, relieving starter Danielle Watson who pitched the first two innings. Brianna Enter, Emma Wilson, and Mack Leonard combined to pitch the remaining three innings as Coach Lonnie Alameda wanted to give Katheryn Sandercock and Danielle Watson more rest.

They only allowed one hit, three walks, and had six strikeouts.

Key Takeways

It was good to see the offense explode for double-digit runs as the team hadnโ€™t scored 10 or more runs since defeating Pitt 10-0 on March 5th. They only had two strikeouts and only left four runners on base.

It was complete domination and an efficient win against a decent midweek opponent. FSU softball will return to action with more non-conference action when they host FIU for a doubleheader Saturday afternoon.

The first game will begin at 1 p.m., and the second game will be shortly after that one finishes. Hopefully, this offensive explosion will continue through non-conference play and build the hitterโ€™s confidence when they re-enter conference play against Virginia on April 1st.

That confidence is especially important for players like Jahni Kerr and Kalei Harding, who have been inconsistent for much of the year. Itโ€™ll be important for Sydney Sherrill to begin picking up her offensive play as they prepare for the postseason.
