FSU football fans shared disappointment after 2021, with the fourth consecutive losing season. The defense had more talent than the offense in 2020 but failed to come close to expectations.

Most of the blame went to defensive coordinator Adam Fuller, but I was one of the few that supported him going into the 2021 season.

He had a full offseason to implement his defense and gain trust from the players.

The coaching staff brought in an infusion of talent from the transfer portal, which paid off big time with several making All-ACC. I believe the defense played well enough to win eight games but didn’t get much help from the offense in several games without Jordan Travis.

The points per game average allowed decreased by 9.5 points, and the yards per play allowed decreased by 19.7 percent. Both stats had nowhere to go but down with how bad they were in 2020.

The defense had a pass rush, linebackers improved, and the secondary played better once Jammie Robinson moved to safety full time.

There were a few playmakers on defense who had some outstanding efforts. Let’s get into the five best performances.
