FSU football will get its spring practice underway later this week, and the defense should be one of the strengths of this team with several returning starters.

That’s a stark contrast from a year ago when the defense was a huge question mark going into the season. However, Adam Fuller saw much improvement in his unit as the year progressed, and it was ultimately the strength of the team.

They played well enough to win eight or nine games last season. Of course, they lost ACC Defensive Player of the Year Jermaine Johnson and standout defensive end Keir Thomas. However, they return leaders at every level of the defense and some new pieces from the transfer portal.

The latter will prove to be important, just as the additions of Johnson and Thomas in 2021.
The team has had a strong offseason so far, with the players enduring strength and conditioning, weightlifting, and the Tour of Duty workouts the past couple of months.

They have many early enrollees composed of freshmen and players from the transfer portal. The challenge for Adam Fuller will be the continued development of young players and finding out what the players from the transfer portal can become.

Here are the top three defensive questions for the Noles entering the spring practice.
