FSU football: Coaches continue to get future talent on campus
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football coaches had a nice group of 2023 and beyond recruits on campus last week. That process continued this weekend, with several recruits visiting the Noles.
More players were visiting than what I’m highlighting below. However, I want to highlight are the comments and concentration on local products as well as younger players in 2024 and 2025.
The Noles focused a large part of their recruiting efforts on the offensive line in the 2022 recruiting cycle.
They’ll need to focus on the trenches on the defensive side in 2023. However, it’s still early and recruiting rankings are nowhere close to finished. Here are some players that were on campus:
Kenton Kirkland is a 2023 four-star (247 rating) safety from Jacksonville, Florida.
Jordan Church is an 2023 offensive lineman that attends IMG Academy, where FSU alum Tra Thomas is the offensive line coach.
Tristen Sion is an unranked defensive back from Tallahassee, Florida, but already has 29 offers.
Lamar Williams is an offensive lineman class of 2025 from Tallahassee.
Keishawn Mashburn is a 2024 defensive end from Quincy, Florida.
Cameron Upshaw is a three-star (247 rating) from Havana, Florida. The same high school as 2021 signee Joshua Farmer.
Kelvin Crawford is a 2025 wide receiver from Tallahassee, Florida.
Ka’Shawn Thomas is an unranked 2023 defensive tackle from Brunswick, Georgia.
That’s 2023 FSU wide receiver commit Vandrevius Jacobs getting dap from 2023 FSU QB commit Chris Parson.
Three-star running back Xavier Terrell from St. Thomas Aquinas High School. The same high school as 2023 signee Julian Armella.
Christian Ross is a 2023 athlete from Dale County HS in Georgia.
Jayden Drayton is a 2023 athlete from Brunswick, Georgia.
Darron Reed is a four-star composite defensive tackle from Columbus, Georgia.
Kelton Smith Jr. is a four-star composite offensive tackle from Columbus, Georgia.
Parting Thoughts
It seems the coaching staff is trying to keep the groups of players small and manageable. It allows them to build relationships with some key players in the 2023 class while getting future recruits on campus early on.

It doesn’t look like they are focusing on specific groups at specific times. This weekend was a solid combination of skill players, trench players, and defensive backs. The plan seems to be getting players on campus every weekend with the hopes of getting key targets back on campus for future junior days.
The players that show up to those will likely be a good indicator of who has mutual interest in the Noles.
