FSU football added its 10th player from the transfer portal Tuesday afternoon with Oregon running back Trey Benson.

There has been some smoke regarding the running back committing to FSU for nearly a week, and he finally visited Tallahassee Monday before announcing his commitment Tuesday afternoon.

The reaction from the Nole fan base is mixed at best, with some fans trusting the coaches and others questioning the take. I can understand both sides and prefer to look at both sides instead of spouting nonsense with no context.

After all, a young man decided to wear the garnet and gold to help this program win football games. The mixed reaction stems from his injury history and lack of production coupled with this coaching staff’s history of taking players with significant injuries.

Jashaun Corbin had a significant hamstring injury before deciding to transfer to FSU football from Texas A&M.

Also, everyone is familiar with McKenzie Milton’s injury before deciding to join the program last year. Corbin contributed in both years he played, earning All-ACC honors last season before declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Milton never came close to the form he had pre-injury, and like Benson, had a major knee injury. Here are three thoughts I’ll leave you with regarding Trey Benson’s commitment.
