FSU basketball head coach Leonard Hamilton lost quite a bit of firepower from his 2020-21 squad that exited the season with a Sweet 16 loss in the NCAA Tournament against Michigan. Scottie Barnes, RaiQuan Gray, Balsa Koprivica, and M.J. Walker are all on NBA rosters.

The FSU squad returns experienced players Anthony Polite, RayQuan Evans, Malik Osborne, and Wyatt Wilkes. The No. 8 2021 recruiting class of Matthew Cleveland, Jalen Warley, John Butler, Naheem McLeod, with transfers Cam’Ron Fletcher and Caleb Mills, have joined the program.

It’ll be a young team, and Leonard Hamilton already has his sites set on building the 2022 recruiting class. He has added three commits to the program since early September:

  • Cameron Corhen: (No. 85 nationally, No. 13 Center)
  • Tom House: (Unranked nationally, Small Forward)
  • De’Ante Green: (No. 129 nationally, No. 25 Power forward)

Cohen committed on 9/12 and House committed on 9/29, with Green committing to the Noles Sunday, October 3rd. Corhen is a force around the basketball with the ability to stretch beyond the three-point line.

House is an excellent spot-up shooter with good size at 6-6. I think of him as a replacement for Wyatt Wilkes and could be a little more athletic. Green presents a player with great length that can finish around the basket but is capable of making shots from the perimeter with a quick release.

Most recruiting folks believe Green will rise in the rankings as updates take place. The three additions give FSU basketball the No. 29 class nationally, with the opportunity to add a few more players in the future.

Leonard Hamilton had done well mixing in a few elite players with others that fit specific roles on the team. The Noles are in the mix for a couple of five-stars in Dillon Mitchell and Julian Phillips. Mitchell hails from Montverde Academy, the former home of recent FSU signees Scottie Barnes, Balsa Koprivica, and Christ Koumadje. If they can land one of those five-stars, the 2022 class would take a massive jump into the top 10.
