FSU football: Top 3 observations from 2021 fall camp
By Kelvin Hunt
Improved at QB
I thought FSU football was better at quarterback going into fall camp. The Noles having two players with experience is something they haven’t had in forever.
However, it looks as though Jordan Travis has made great strides and continued to be the more consistent quarterback through fall camp.
Will it be enough for Mike Norvell to give him the starting job? If so, I wrote how Travis had similar production to Louisville’s Lamar Jackson in his first year as a starter.
I’m not saying it’ll happen, but Travis could see his numbers increase if he’s able to stay healthy and Mike Norvell leans on him more, the same way Bobby Petrino leaned on Jackson in 2016.
It looks like Chubba Purdy got some much-needed reps in fall camp, as he looks to offset missing most of spring and summer workouts as he rehabbed from an injury.
Bad quarterback play has been the difference in FSU football winning and losing several games over the past few seasons.
Maybe this unit can help the Noles get over the hump to winning six games and making a bowl game in 2021.
