FSU football: 4-star OL Jaylen Early commits to the Noles

FSU football coaches understand the game is won in the trenches and added another important piece of the 2022 recruiting class Monday afternoon.

Four-star Jaylen Early had been predicted to announce his decision to commit to the Noles since he completed his official visit in late June.

His high school teammate, Jerrale Powers, announced his commitment to the Noles after visiting on the same weekend. Early is also a former high school teammate with 2023 QB commit Chris Parson.

Early made it official Thursday afternoon when he announced his commitment via Twitter.

Jaylen Early ranks as the No. 200 player and No. 11 interior offensive lineman. He has 33 offers and FSU beat out teams like Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Penn State, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, USC, Texas, Tennessee, Purdue, and others.

Early checks in at 6’4′ and 320 pounds and is 18th commitment in the 2022 recruiting class. He’s the sixth offensive lineman committed, with a couple of other blue-chip targets remaining in Elijah Pritchett and legacy recruit Julian Armella.

This offensive line class could be the best the Noles have had committed in over a decade. Early’s commitment does a couple of things for the Noles. It puts establishes more ties to an excellent high school program in Texas.

It gives the Noles their fourth blue-chip offensive lineman in one recruiting cycle. When was the last time that happened?

Early brings a good pedigree, playing early for one of the better high school programs in Texas. Early was an All-District First-Team offensive tackle as a sophomore while helping lead his team to two consecutive 6-A title game appearances. He

Early’s addition pushes the Noles up to No. 7 nationally, and back to the No. 1 recruiting class in the ACC ahead of Clemson.

The Noles have roughly 7-8 spots remaining in the 2022 recruiting class with at least six realistic targets ranked in the top 150 players.
